Overcrowding in jail is deplorable. Inmate numbers exceeding facility capacity creates dangerous conditions, escalating violence, disease, and mental health crises for inmates. This subsequently increases costs and staff burnout. While clients tell me horrible stories about being treated like animals, I’m sure I don’t really know what happens behind closed cell doors.
